Hua Hin – Cha Am Horse Festival 2009 "Endurance Classics"
 Mr. Sura-At Narongrit, the Secretary to Hua Hin Mayor, has informed us that Horse Riding Association is cooperating with Hua Hin Municipality, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Hua Hin Horse for Rent Club to hold 1st Hua Hin – Cha am Horse Festival 2009, Endurance Classic on the beach during July 11-12, 2009.
This horse festival is to promote local tourism and it is the first time in Hua Hin that horse riding festival is held. In the festival will participate over 100 horse riders who will attract many equestrian spectators and tourists. Moreover this event is regarded as the festival for families doing activities together, promoting local tourism. Hua Hin – Cha am beach is said to be unique place for horse riding on the beach, and it can be promoted as international racing as well.
In the races will participate 3 groups of horse riders; 1) local group consists of Thais and foreigners living in Thailand, 2) regional group consists of riders from Malaysia including neighboring countries, 3) international countries group including riders from EFT. The competition will be divided into 4 types; 1. Endurance 80 km, 2. Endurance 40 km, 3. Endurance 20 km, 4 VIP 3 km. (on the beach). The route for racing is 20-80 km. long with beautiful panorama of Hua Hin on both sides, beginning from the beach in front of Dusit Thani Hotel along the beach. During the event, there will be other activities such as horse jumping, child’s polo on horse’s back demonstration, sport cars show, booths for selling and other games.  Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2009
This year the 8th HUA HIN Jazz Festival 2009 is scheduled to be from 12 – 14 June 2009 in honor of the Musical Talents of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand and to celebrate the occasion of HUA HIN 100th Anniversary with the HUA HIN GREEN JAZZ concept.
Highlight of this year’s HUA HIN Jazz Festival is the performance of Thai, Asian and world famous International Jazz musicians during the 3 days in different locations; on the beach and at Phonkingphet Public Park.

Hua Hin Municipality to Celebrate 100th Anniversary
To celebrate its 100th anniversary and the establishment of its municipality on 1 October 2009, Hua Hin is preparing various festivities throughout this year, according to Hua Hin Mayor Mr. Jira Pongphaiboon, members of Hua Hin Municipality and the Nation Group Managing-Director Mr. Thanachai Theerapattanawong.
Now, the organizers are planning several activities for the occasion. To name but a few are Hua Hin VIP Train Live Concert, Hua Hin Fair and Hua Hin Film Festival. Besides, there will be a concert on the beach in which over 100 artists from Thailand and many other countries are joining.
The Hua Hin VIP Train Live Concert, organized by Oriental Express Standard, will provide a luxurious trip around Hua Hin. A banquet will be held during the trip to many well-preserved architectural heritage of the city.
The Hua Hin Fair, starting from April to May, will see a show of both traditional and current fashion trends in Thailand.
The Hua Hin Live Concert will see the biggest car rally ever from Bangkok to Hua Hin. Music lovers will enjoy a concert performed by many fine artists in romantic atmosphere.
Movie buffs will be pleased to join in the Hua Hin Film Festival where short films using Hua Hin as a shooting location are screened. There is also a movie competition and the awarding winning film will be showed in Hua Hin and the upcoming World Film Festival in Bangkok.
Besides the festive activities, Hua Hin authorities will carry out a project of tree planting as a humble offer to His Majesty the King. Also, a book to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hua Hin will be released. The publication recounts the history of this beautiful beachfront town much favored by Thai and foreign vacationers and gives detailed information on local tourist attractions.
The festivities, all planned in the beginning of February, aim to commemorate both the 100th anniversary and founding of the municipality of Hua Hin. Moreover, visitors who join the special occasion will gain an insight about the long-standing history of Hua Hin. Also, since it is expected that more tourists, both Thais and foreigners, will come to Hua Hin for all the year long, local economy will hopefully be boosted.

Hua Hin boasts sunflowers
The resort town of Hua Hin has added a 100-rai sunflower belt to its growing list of attractions.
 The flowers, on view since Songkran on a plot that belongs to Wat Huay Mongkol, are expected to remain in bloom until early May. The temple is home to the largest statue of revered monk Luang Pu Thuat in Thailand, 11.5 metres tall and 9.9 metres wide.
To begin with, the temple planted sunflower on 50 rai at the start of this year. It drew huge crowds, said Pinnart Charoenpol, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan office, prompting the abbot to expand cultivation to 100 rai.
As is the norm, Thais visiting sunflower fields like to get themselves pictured in their midst, but additionally, here they can take a tour riding elephants.
Wat Huay Mongkol is located in Tub Tai, a tambon of Hua Hin District. From the town take Highway 3218 and drive for 14 kilometres to Nhong Tapeo intersection. There turn left. The temple is four kilometres from the intersection.
